Walking comfortably with a dog in recovery

Ripley had a nasty road traffic accident. The staffy has a long recovery journey ahead, to keep her mind stimulated and preventing the inevitable boredom of being kept in at home, dog mom Serena got the InnoPet Hercules 2.0. This enables the family to take Ripley out each day and enjoy walks together.

Finding the right dog stroller

Ripley may look like a passenger princess, being pushed around in her InnoPet Hercules 2.0 dog stroller. But, she needs it to comfortably go on walks. When Ripley’s owner, Serena, went in search for a dog stroller, she wanted something robust and big enough for her staffy to lie down in. Looking around online, she found mostly strollers for small dogs and ones that did not have the capacity to go off road.

As the family likes to go for walks in nature, wheels that have no trouble with uneven surface are a must. The Hercules 2.0 has pneumatic air tires in the rear and a solid EFA tire in the front. To make the journeys over rough terrain even more comfortable for Ripley, her owners put a cushion and fleece on the base of the dog trailer.

The Hercules is just brilliant”

Getting used to the dog stroller

Ripley was a little hesitant at first, using the dog trailer, but after her first walk she was convinced. When the Hercules 2.0 comes out, she is excited to go outside. She walks along with her family, and when she starts feeling tired, she signals her humans she wants to sit inside of the stroller. Knowing her own limits, when to walk and when to take a rest, during her time of recovery. Ripley is so comfortable in her dog stroller, she was even able to sleep in it during a music festival!

Explaining the need of a dog stroller

When the family is out for a walk with Ripley and her InnoPet dog stroller, they make many connections and chat with people interested in Ripley’s recovery journey. People compliment them on their dog stroller and wonder where they can get one for their dogs. There are always some rude people, though. Making comments about spoiled dogs being pushed around in prams and how dogs should walk on their own feet. Serena is not afraid to put these people in their place and explain Ripley needs the wheels, as she is recovering from an accident.

Next summer, when Ripley will be fully recovered, the family plans on getting the bike bar. Connecting the dog trailer to their bicycle will allow Ripley and her family to go on adventures further form home. As staffies are prone to joint problems and arthritis, the InnoPet Hercules 2.0 is an investment to enjoy now and in the future!
