Separation anxiety
Dachshund Lotje unfortunately cannot be alone at home, due to separation anxiety. Something that probably stems from a trauma she suffered as a puppy. So Lotje has to go everywhere with Suzanne. Even when owner Suzanne has to go to a shop in the village to pick up a parcel. The village is not big, but the sounds, smells and people make Lotje stressed. Lotje was often picked up to calm her down.
Second-hand dog buggy
A dachshund is small, but eventually you get tired arms from carrying them around. A friend of Suzanne’s remarked that a dog buggy might be a good solution for Lotje. One day, a second-hand InnoPet Sporty Dog Trailer Deluxe came along on Facebook marketplace. But the front wheel was missing. Suzanne inquired with InnoPet customer service about buying a new front wheel. Fortunately, InnoPet has a lot of (spare) parts in stock. So a few days later, the dog buggy was ready to use.
Lotje cannot be left home alone”
Getting used to the dog buggy
While Suzanne waited for the new front wheel to arrive, the buggy was in the living room. After a good cleaning, Lotje began sniffing and exploring the buggy. When the ordered cushion for the dog buggy also arrived with the front wheel, Princess Lotje’s ride was complete! Suzanne had directly ordered the orthopedic cushion from customer service. There is a pad in the dog buggy as standard, but she knew Lotje would be more comfortable lying on a soft pillow.
Calmer in the dog buggy
Some people still think you can just pet any dog uninvited. Lotje is no fan of strangers. In her enclosed dog buggy, unsolicited petting is a thing of the past. The barrier with the mesh also makes Lotje feel less threatened by all external factors. She easily goes to shops (where it is allowed) and in her buggy she also joined the table at a restaurant. It can be so much more comfortable for a dog to be elevated in a buggy. Especially when the dog has a nervous or anxious personality.
